Recently, HIAF-BRing dipole magnet power supply sample was successfully developed and passed the expert’s on-site testing.
BRing dipole magnet power supply is one of the most important equipment for HIAF to accelerate beam. According to operating requirements, the project team proposed a full-digit-controlled full-storage capacity before the inspirational switching power module series and connection scheme. This scheme has the characteristics of fast response and high control accuracy. At the same time, full energy storage technology is used to control huge non-effective power between energy storage capacitors and magnetic inductors, which greatly reduces the impact of pulse current on the grid. The peak power is reduced from 15MVA to 0.9MVA. After four and a half years, the project team captured more than 40 technical difficulties. In October 2022, the power supply sample machine was successfully developed. After passing the 72-hour full load real magnet load reliability test, the test indicators reached or partially better than the design indicators.
The successful development of the full energy storage pulse power sample machine not only solves the key technical problems of HIAF, but also greatly improves the level of technology in Chinese accelerator power supply, which is of great significance to the promotion of HIAF project.
